The pan's heavy-gauge aluminum construction around an aluminum core provides even heat distribution throughout the pan. Its patented nonstick ceramic interior, a three-coat nonstick system including a 'hard base' ceramic primer that hardens the inside of the pan, provides exceptional food release, durability, and scratch resistance not normally associated with aluminum cookware. A porcelain enamel exterior in a fashionable color makes the pan both exceptionally tough and easy to clean with long-lasting beauty. Plus, the pan includes a see-through straining lid allowing one to pour liquids off food by aligning the holes with the pan's pouring spout. Turn the lid again, and the holes are covered, locking steam in the pan for moist cooking. The saucepan also features a cast stainless-steel handle riveted on for durability. The pan is oven-safe to 500 degrees F
